1 Who we are

Bricks & Calcs is a free UK property and mortgage calculator website operated at www.bricksandcalcs.co.uk.

We are the data controller for personal information collected through this website. If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, please contact us at privacy@bricksandcalcs.co.uk.

2 What data we collect and why

a — Calculator inputs

When you use our calculators, you enter figures such as property prices, income and deposit amounts. This data is processed entirely within your browser and is never transmitted to our servers. We do not store, record or have access to any calculator inputs.

b — Usage and analytics data

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use our website. This may include pages visited, time spent on the site, your approximate location (country/region level), device type and browser. This data is collected only after you give your consent via our cookie banner. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store full IP addresses.

c — Contact enquiries

If you contact us via our contact form or by emailing hello@bricksandcalcs.co.uk, we collect your name and email address solely to respond to your enquiry. We do not add you to any mailing list, share your details with third parties, or use them for any purpose other than responding to your message.

d — Cookie consent preferences

We store a record of your cookie consent choices (accepted, rejected or customised) so we do not ask you again on every visit. This is a necessary function and does not require your consent.

4 Cookies

We use cookies on this website. You can manage your preferences at any time via the cookie banner or the “Cookie Settings” link in our footer.

Necessary cookies

These are essential for the website to function. They include your cookie consent preference. These cookies do not require your consent and cannot be disabled.

Analytics cookies (consent required)

We use Google Analytics 4 to collect anonymised session data about how visitors use our site. These cookies are only set after you give your consent. You can withdraw consent at any time via our cookie settings.

Affiliate tracking cookies (consent required)

Some pages contain links to third-party mortgage brokers and services. If you click one of these links, the affiliate network may place a tracking cookie on your device to record the referral. These cookies are only set with your prior consent and are governed by the affiliate network's own privacy policy.

We do not use advertising, marketing or social media tracking cookies.

For the full list of cookies and their durations, please see our Cookie Policy.

5 Google Analytics

Our analytics are provided by Google Analytics 4, a service operated by Google LLC. When you consent to analytics cookies, data about your visit may be transferred to and stored on Google's servers, which may be located outside the UK. Google LLC participates in the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and processes data under Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved for UK transfers.

6 Data sharing and third parties

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Google Analytics (Google LLC) — anonymised session data, on your consent (see Section 5)
  • CookieYes — our consent management platform, which stores your cookie consent preferences only. Privacy policy: cookieyes.com/privacy-policy
  • Legal obligation — if required by law, court order or regulatory authority

Newsletter: We do not currently operate a newsletter. If this changes, this policy will be updated before any email marketing begins.

7 Data retention

  • Analytics data — retained for up to 14 months, as configured in our Google Analytics settings, after which it is automatically deleted
  • Contact enquiries — retained for up to 12 months, then deleted
  • Cookie consent records — retained for 365 days (your consent expiry period), then reset
